Individual pups that are avaliable that have been critiqued and temperament tested, older dogs for sale, or dogs that we are retiring from breeding that will be adopted out will be posted on this page.

Retired Breeding Dogs: Dogs that we retire and are adopted out are done so under a spay/neuter agreement. AKC registration is withheld until proof from a veternarian that the spay/neuter has been done. Our bitches are retired between the ages of 5 to 6 years and studs are retired at 8 years of age. The following dog/dogs will be retiring this year and are/will be avaliable for adoption:

Pet Quality: Puppies deemed as pet quality only when compared to the AKC Breed Standard will be posted under this section when they become avaliable.

Show/Breeding Quality: Puppies deemed as show quality &/or of breeding quality when compared to the AKC Breed Standard will be posted under this section when they become avaliable.

We do not at this time have any puppies ava. Our next planned breeding will be in 2011 providing the bitch and stud passes all OFA clearances.

                                                                                                           Note

Before getting a dog we highly recommend anyone interested in this breed to read the book "The other end of the leash" by Patricia McConnell, an animal behaviorist. It is a very important decision that needs to be thought through when adding a dog to your family. It is a very big commitment and responsibility. The book I referenced above will help guide you to where you should get your new puppy/dog from and why, to training techniques and how to interprit dog behavior. However, during the development of your puppy the breeder you choose to get your puppy from will be the most valueable to you. They should be able to help you with any trouble that you run into with your new puppy. If the breeder does not offer support for the lifetime of the dog they created, find another breeder. If you were interested in purchasing one of our dogs but we do not have any ava. we would be glad to help you with finding a reputable breeder with price ranges to fit your budget. So please feel free to contact us with any questions.

                                                                                         How Our Puppies Are Raised

Here at Cain Hill we all do our part on the raising and socializing of each puppy. We start on socialization skills as soon as the puppies reach 3 days of age if the neonates doesnt require any human interference. We start by desensitizing the puppies with touch, and desensitizing the puppy with different sounds are added to the socialization process when the ears open completely. While the puppies are nursing, we help every Dam raise her pups by bottle feeding half the puppies at each feeding and alternating the puppies out when fed. It also helps us learn more about each puppy's personality and we will be able to spot any potential problems in the earliest of stages. Knowing each puppy from the tip of the nose to the tip of it's tail is a breeders job. Knowing a puppy's temperament is important so that the right puppy can be matched up with the right owner. When the puppies turn 3 days old our puppies are started on a program the military developed called "Bio Sensor", or better known to the public the "Super Dog" program. In the outcome of our puppies after we started doing this program, the trainability of the dogs is out of this world. They are calmer, have very stable temperaments and end up with a very high threshold for pain. Extreme caution must be taken when using this program. Over stimulation to the neurological system can have adverse and detrimental results. These exercises impact the neurological system by kicking it into action earlier than would be normally expected. The result being an increased capacity that later will help to make the difference in its performance. Here is a list of what a puppy on this program would gain:

  • Improved cardio vascular performance (heart rate)
  • Stronger heart beats
  • Stronger adrenal glands
  • More tolerance to stress
  • Greater resistance to disease

Starting at 2 weeks of age our puppies are weighed,  groomed, and have their nails trimmed and are treated for internal parasites, this is done once a week thereafter, the 4th week, ear cleaning with a disinfectant is also added in with the other regular upkeep of the puppy. We are very strict on their vaccinations. Puppies that are transfered to a home that we consider to be a high risk area for diseases (lepto, parvo virus, distemper ect...) are kept until the last vaccination is given. (We do not charge extra for this as it is in the best interest of the puppy being placed, and they are generally released to go home at 15 weeks of age) Rottweilers are known to have an underactive immune system and until 1-2 weeks after the first vaccination we do not allow any physical social interaction with outside dogs nor anyone besides us.

They are socialized and excersized in our home and are transported in an infant carrier. When we introduce them to different environments they never leave our arms. Working with pups and getting them use to riding in a moving vehicle is very important. Most aspecially on the larger and deeper chested breeds as they tend to get car sick easier if they are not use to it. Most of them when you crate them, they will have more of a tendency of getting sick. Being a breeder and transporting breeding bitches out of town to other kennels I have learned this the hard way.

We do not at anytime use any harsh chemicals on or around the Dam nor her puppies. Neonate puppies are succeptable to chemical pneumonia. When we use shampoos on our puppies to prevent fleas we use Dawn Dishwashing Liquid (original), never use anything but the original. The kind with the bleach, even though we can barely detect bleach being in it, the puppy will catch chemical pneumonia within 8 hours after bathing it. The bleach mixes with the ammonia residue that is on the puppy and can be fatally toxic. We keep the actual baths at a minimal and sponge bath them with huggies baby wipes with aloe. The wipes can be used to clean the entire face without irritating puppy's eyes. Keeping the face clean is a must because a bacterial infection can occur from milk collecting in the folds of skin underneath the jawline and on top of a puppy's nose. When our pups need just a quick bath and there are no fleas present we use just a mild shampoo formulated specifically for puppies. We do not use any type of flea shampoo on our puppies as the chemicals can cause seizures, coma, and even death in puppies under the age of 12 weeks. We strongly recommend to read all labeling of any products used on dogs under the age of 12 months.

  •                 We take up a considerable amount of time with our pups after the weaning process begins. We work on the pups with being handled and touched, taking steps to preventing future food aggression, and depending on the length of time they stay with us, some are obedience trained and housetrained. We work on their manners while we have them (example: jumping on people).

Feeding the right food is one of the most important things. All of our pups and showdogs are fed Canidae All Life Stages as this requires half as much to maintain a perfect weight than it does regular commercial brands such as Purina or Eukanuba and active Rottweiler pups need the extra calories because they burn it off quickly. It contains no soy products nor corn and is a all natural diet (Purina contains soy). When we wean our puppies we begin feeding them Eagle Pack Holistic Large Breed Puppy and continue this kibble until 7 weeks of age, and at that time we slowly transition them to Canidae. Granted feeding these 2 brands of kibble is costly but seeing what a difference it makes in the puppy's structure and overall health the money is well spent. Feeding a high quality food will save money in the long run. The amount consumed is cut in half as well as it saves on vet costs feeding a holistic (all natural with no fillers) diet.It is up to us as breeders and owners to give our pups the best start possible. We do not ever under any circumstances suppliment our puppies. If the puppy is on a good quality kibble or BARF diet then there is no need. Trying to grow a puppy too big too fast will have devistating effects such as dysplasia because excellerated growth rate will cause bones in the front legs not to fuse properly and become dysplastic or will cause the hips to be weak. Some foods like Purina, Eukanuba, Pedigree, and Iams to name a few has too much vitamin D/calcium and would be the same as over supplimenting. The calcium/phosphorus ratios in commercial foods are not for large breed fast growing dogs such as a Rottweiler or a Great Dane and this can cause dysplasia and other bone deformities and more information on this can be seen here http://www.joint-health-for-dogs.com/nutrition-dogs.html. Its better to let the puppy grow at a normal steady growth rate, and if fed properly will grow to its fullest potential regardless. Some over supplimenting effects and deformities caused by commercial foods and vitamin suppliments in large breeds can be seen here at www.greatdanelady.com. If you are interested in feeding a all natural holistic diet here are some Canidae dealers within the area starting with the one we highly recommend and purchase from. They have a variety of choices including the miracle food tripe and will gladly special order and for added convienence they will put customers on automatic ordering so that when they purchase their food it is always fresh and never sits on a shelf for extended amounts of time causing it to lose nutritional value. They also offer several other animal services such as acupuncture, massage therapy, aeromatherapy, allergy testing and much more lessening the need for prescription medications for ailments that can eventually lead to liver damage and renal failure in your pet. They also offer services to people as well. **Make sure when visiting Miss Shanda that you tell her Kathy Cain from Cain Hill Rottweilers sent you :-) ** :

One of the ingredients to watch out for is "Animal Digest". This ingredient contains dead animals from sources such as animals that have been euthanized at shelters, rats, roadkill picked up by animal control, animals that die before they can be slaughtered and they can be cows, horses, pigs you name it. If it can not be used for human consumption then it is throwed in. A few foods containing this ingredient is Pedigree, Ol' Roy, store brand or off brand foods & Purina. Some of these foods have been on recall because they contained toxins that made alot of dogs sick and several have died from things like renal failure due to commercial foods. The better the quality of the food you feed your dog, the longer your dog will live.

All of our puppies are temperament tested. They are tested at 7 weeks, and if there is a puppy that we have held back that is a show prospect the puppy will be tested again at 12 weeks of age. Understanding temperament is important. It would be unethical and potentially dangerous to send an overly dominant puppy (alpha) or one that has excess amounts of play/prey drive home with an inexperienced owner that has very small children. Without testing how would one be so sure which one is the dominant because any breeder should know that the biggest male &/or biggest female is not always dominant. I have seen many litters where the second from largest or the so called "runt" is the dominant one when it is all said and done. There is no way to tell just by looking at them. Alot goes into choosing the right puppy for the right home.

This beautiful boy is Cain Hill's Color of Money, call name Dutch. He is one of our co-owned males and he is out of our bitch Kash (February 2008 Litter). Picture was taken at around 9 months of age. This photo was selected for the month of September in the Humane Society's 2009 calendar. He is also pictured in the second photo in this section (the single pup pictured at 2 1/2 wks of age) He is owned and loved by his mommy Bobby Meyer of Opp, AL.

This is our 11 month old home bred male Cain Hill's the Hustler "Tango". This photo was taken just outside the ring of his first santioned match. We are very excited to finally begin showing this boy and we expect him to have a very good first year in conformation. (Pictured with his handler, our 13 year old daughter Elizabeth)
